Regulations of cross-country cycling competition „Gruzis acī”

Objectives and aims

XCO Cross-country cycling competition „Gruzis acī” is a mountain bike competition with a marked track and it will take place in several (four) stages.

The aim of the competition is to diversify mountain bike competitions held in Latvia by creating difficult and complex tracks, as well as to develop skills of the cyclists.

To make the competition attractive to the spectators and fans by making short laps in order to make it more interesting to follow the competition.

Place and time

The cross-country cycling competition takes place in 4 stages:

01.05.2016 – 1st stage Sigulda
15.05.2016 – 2nd stage Ogres Zilie kalni
18.09.2016 – 3rd stage Riekstukalns
02.10.2016 – 4th stage Priekuļi

Distances and start times

The track is one lap, which is 4-10 km long.

The competition in all stages begins:

  • Groups: Youth 15, Youth 17 at 11:30
  • Other groups at 13:00

Depending on the specific route and the number of the participants, participants may be divided into several groups. Further information will follow before each stage.

Groups and distances

In each stage the number of laps can differ depending on the complexity of the route and predicted finish time of the leaders.

After Men Elite leader finishes race, start is closed and participants from Elite and all the other groups can not start a new lap – all riders finishes their started lap and are ranked by finished lap count and time, regardless if they managed to finish  specified lap count for their group.

**Groups Juniors 15 and Juniors 17:

  • On the day of competition participants under the age of 18 years should be accompanied by adult who takes responsibility for underage during the competition.
  • Taking into account the complexity of the track, accompanying person should become acquainted with the track and evaluate abilities of the participant to take part in the competition.
  • The accompanying person should take into account that cycling competition Gruzis acī has complex and difficult tracks. The underage will go on the track together with adult cyclists. There are different obstacles, jumps and steep slopes. 

Compliance with the particular age group will be determined by subtracting year of birth from year 2016.

Registration on competition will be closed 30 minutes before the start of a particular group.

Age group Juniors 15 and Juniors 17 – participation fee is 5 euro regardless of the registration time.

Participant receives one number for all stages of the competition

Registration fee provides:

  1. Creating of the track; its marking
  2. Participant numbers
  3. Registration and compilation of the time and results
  4. Drinks in the start zone
  5. Catering after the finish
  6. Diploma for each participant
  7. Insurance against civil liability and other permits and licenses for competition organization
  8. Nurse in the start zone
  9. Photos at website xco.lv
  10. Training rides / track test rides

In case of absence the participation fee is not refunded.

Evaluation and awards

  1. Stage points

The participant who finishes the distance first becomes the winner of the stage in particular age group and for each stage gets following points:

1st place– 300 points,

2nd place – 250 points,

3rd place – 200 points,

4th place – 180 points,

5th place – 160 points,

6th place – 140 points,

7th place – 130 points,

8th place – 120 points,

9th place – 110 points,

10th place – 100 points,

11th place – 95 points,

12th place – 90 points,

13th place – 85 points,

14th place – 80 points,

For every further place minus 2 (two) points.

  1. Overall standings

The overall standings are determined according to the sum of 3 fastest stage points in each age group and distance.

If a participant took part in less than 3 stages, his/her results are not included in overall standings.

If a participant took part in 3 stages, but in one of them did not cross the finish line, his /her results are included in overall standings.

In case there are several participants with the same score, the winner is the participant who has won the highest place in the last stage of the competition.

  1. Award ceremony

First three places in Elite group (separately in men and women groups) get medals, diplomas and awards from sponsors.

First three places in each group get medal and diploma.

Each participant get a diploma.

In overall standings first three places in Elite group (separately in men and women groups) get cups and awards from sponsors.

In overall standings first three places in each group get medals.

Attention!

  1. Participation is considered to be applied in the competition when participant has filled the form and paid participation fee.
  2. If a participant leaves the track, he/she must return to the same place where he/she left the track.
  3. While on the track, a participant should wear securely fastened helmet.
  4. Each participant is obliged to help other participants in case of injury and call the organizers (phone number: 26364983) or call the ambulance (phone number: 113).
  5. If a participant cannot finish a lap, when turning back to start zone he/she should inform the judges.
  6. It is prohibited for the participants to litter the competition area and it is required to care for the environment.
  7. During the competition the traffic will not be restricted, therefore when using or crossing public roads all participants should follow the road traffic regulations.

Liability of the participants

All participants are obliged to get acquainted with the regulations.

On the registration day each participant certifies with his/her signature that he/she is acquainted with the regulations of the cross-country cycling competition.

A participant of the competition is civically and legally responsible for all accidents and material losses occurring during the competition.

After the registration and going on the track each participant is responsible for his/her own health and ability to finish the distance.

Every participant takes responsibility for:

  • Possible collisions, cycling spills or other accidents on the track.
  • Unattended belongings in the start zone.
  • Health status. In case of health deterioration, a participant undertakes to withdraw from the competition.

The organizers are not responsible for possible injuries and/or health deteriorations during the competition.

Penalty

The basic principle of the cross-country cycling is a fair competition. The participants who will be caught at unfair competition will be disqualified.

Claims

Any participant who considers that he/she has been limited by someone’s activity can make a claim for organizers .The claim should be submitted within 15 minutes after the ride of the participant and he/she should pay 15 euro fee. If the claim has been satisfied, the payment will be returned.

The organizers are entitled to change the regulations of the cross-country competition announcing it on website www.xco.lv, but not later than two weeks before the start of the stage.
